Frequently Asked Questions

  • Musical Minds Academy is a leading music education service that offers a wide range of music classes and lessons for students of all ages and skill levels (predominately through ELO-P programs). Our mission is to inspire a love for music and provide high-quality instruction in a supportive and engaging environment.

  • Our music programs are adaptable and can be conducted in various settings, including standard classrooms or practically any degree of open spaces. To accommodate keyboards, a suitable surface must be provided along with accessible outlets if battery power is not available. Our drum and ukuele/guitar classes also require enough available chairs equal to the attending class size.

For classroom settings, a writable/erasable surface like a whiteboard should be available for our teachers to utilize, as this greatly assists in the learning process.

  • Our instructors are accomplished professionals with deep musical expertise and extensive teaching experience. Driven by a passion for music education, they are committed to helping students reach their full potential in a supportive and engaging environment. We take great care in selecting instructors who are not only skilled musicians but also bring a patient, encouraging approach to their teaching.

To ensure each instructor is fully prepared, we provide paid training through a variety of methods, including class shadowing and skill-building sessions. Additionally, all instructors undergo a rigorous interview process and a mandatory LiveScan background check, vetted by both the California Department of Justice and the FBI. This thorough selection and training process underscores our commitment to creating a positive, secure, and enriching experience for every student, of any age.

  • Our music lessons are typically 40 to 60 minutes long, with most sessions running for a full hour to allow ample time for in-depth instruction. In our ELOP, ASES, and Prop 28 programs, we maintain a targeted student-to-teacher ratio of 20:1, ensuring each student receives personalized guidance and support. To foster age-appropriate learning, we generally group students within a range of up to four grades, although we are happy to work with custom groupings to meet a school district’s specific needs.

  • Yes, we believe that performing is an essential part of musical growth. We organize recitals and performances where students can showcase their progress and gain confidence in their abilities. Students are always eager to showcase their new found musical skills, while parents are just as delighted to admire the results of our classes!

  • We understand that storage can be a challenge for after-school programs. To address this, we offer transportable equipment options for many of our classes. Our equipment provides flexible solutions for schools with limited space, no matter the classroom. Our team is available to discuss the best instrument and equipment options for each program’s specific needs, helping to ensure both convenience and effective music instruction.

  • At MMA, we understand the importance of year-round learning opportunities. Alongside our regular after-school programming, we provide our programs year-round, including all seasons for all forms of our programming.
